WORD!

Okay, so I love this woman and I’ve never met her. I don’t even (really) know her name.

But she knows all about how hard it is for me to shop for clothes.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you cadhla and the problem with sizing women’s clothes.

When I was younger I used to wear a lot of boy’s clothes because they fit, they were of better quality, and I could find sizes without trying fifty million things on. Just another example of how skewed our cultural body-image is…

But seriously, I’m going to link the entry twice. Go read it. Then buy (or make) yourself a sandwich and contemplate how we’re going to make the garment industry stop f!cking around with us.

Yikes! Don’t get me started! Just like you I have bought more men’s clothing over the years than women’s clothing. Why? Because I don’t have a waist or hips…kind of like a tree trunk (lol). And all women’s pants have a tiny waist, so if I wanted to buy some I would have to get a size larger and then keep mashing down the empty material where my hips don’t flare out. Finally, I found Lee Riders at K-Mart, which are actually designed for women with thick waists and no hips.

Now for shirts. I have lost tract how many men’s shirts I have bought and worn. Why? Because I have broad shoulders (I’m 5′10″) and a big rib cage. It was either that or buy women’s shirts in XL, which I do too.

    Thanks for the article link…wonderful!

OOOHHH, loads of fun. I tend to pick up my other halfs clothing, now a lot of the problems is that its a hell of a lot easier to get guy clothes for her because of sizes. She’s not big but lets face it a lot of shops in the UK quit at around a size 16-18 if your lucky. Guys clothing goes a lot bigger and means that she has a choice plus of the costs involved. If your bigger than an 18 you only really have one shop, Evans, who’s clothing is way over priced, is not flattering in any way and just looks like they added inches without bothering to check statistics. They also fail to bother checking whats fashionable and whats not assuming that most women want something for a fifty year old.

Why do I rant, I get so annoyed with things, plus bra sizes are a pain in the backside whats a 42 DD in one range is a 44/46 E in another. For gods sake standardise.

And finally if not completely, theres this thing about anything over a size 0 being fat. Eh? Have I missed something? Were the Art Masters of old wrong in using the fuller figure for thier muses? To me I always feel that a size 0 would snap if I breathed on her. Whats so damn attractive about them?

But this is just a guys opinion and probably is getting away from the point. So basically wise up fashionista’s, give clothing a chance (and a reasonable size) and change from bloody 1950’s figures to more modern women. Rant over.
